Whew! It's Over!

I knit a total of 3 pairs of socks in two weeks time! Wow I never knew I could knit that fast. But it was for good because my team won!! The mod on Socktopia is sending all three of us packages with Claudia Handpainted yarn :)

These were the last pair. Made with Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in Childsplay.

This week is a big yarn week for me :)
-I ordered some yarn in a new base from Dyeabolical Yarns in the Dark Knight colorway.
-My first ever Woolgirl sock kit comes this week. It's in a Sanrio colorway. I had two choices and one of those choices will be my yarn which is White Oak Studio! I picked either Kero Kero Keroppi or Bad Badtz Maru (my fav).
I will def post the pics!

I plan on renewing my membership in the Nefarious Yarn club in Sept. this will be the 3rd renewal.

Late last night I visited Loopyewe and Sherri had up some Wollmeise. I wanted to kick myself so badly. The time I took to choose a colorway I liked and then calculate my finances every single skein was gone! GRRRRR. I guess it's just not meant to be. I think I might buy more Socks That Rock- Lightweight when I have the funds. I balled up my only skein and swatched. It is lovely yarn to work with!

Oh yes! I started another sock yesterday. These will be my first toe up adult sized socks. I'm doing them in Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in Black Purl. Back is plain but the front has the Monkey pattern.

2nd Pair Started

Whewww! I have never knit so many socks in such a short amount of time! I started last friday morning and it's been about a week and I have completed a pair, one sock and 1/4th of a sock!
My right arm and wrist are killing me! I will be taking a bit of a knitting break after this last sock is done.

Pattern: Olympian Socks
Needles: Size US1(2.50mm) These are my favorite sock knitting sized needles from Knit Picks. I have the rosewood set(6 sizes)

In other yarn news...
My August shipment from The Nefarious Yarns club came!! This month is Lizzie Borden! I really enjoy this club. I've gotten some diffrent types of yarn that I wouldn't normally purchase (silk, bamboo, sea silk blends) in colors that are named after some nefarious people. The club started in April and these are colorways so far..
April- Hannibal Lecter (a merino and silk blend in a brown/tan color with red "blood spots")
May- Madam DeFarge (reg merino in a blue, yellow, red color)
June- Kazuo Taoka (merino bamboo blend light blue and white)
July- Jim Jones (this is a merino in a sportweight the colors are bright yellows, pinks and greens made out to look like kool-aid dying. The package came with its own package of koolaid too! Too much fun!)
That brings us to Lizzie Borden (merino and seasilk blend in a beautiful brick red colorway)

Also my dear mom ordered me a skein of J.Knits yarn in the "Connecticut" colorway. That should be arriving soon!! The colors are a black and turqouis color... I so don't get how that is Connecticut but oh well.

Ack! Almost forgot...

These are the first pair!

Socktopia Olympic knitting

On Ravelry I'm a member of the Socktopia group and they are having a Olympic sock knitting contest. We are grouped into teams of three. There is a potential for all members of each team to knit a total of 12 socks collectively (2 pairs each) . It came with a pattern and we have until 11:30 am on Aug. 24th to knit as much as possible.

This is my progress as of 4pm today.

I brought the kids up to Chuck E. Cheese this morning when they opened at 9am, found a nice quiet table and by the time all thier tokens had been spent I had finished the cuff! We then went to my parents house (mom was home today) and hung out with her for the rest of the day. Sat on the couch by the window (with the most breeze) and knit some more! I guess I was so quiet that a chipmunk felt comfortable coming out of his hole to sit near me.

First Post

So I decided that I'd like a blog that I can just jot down ideas, pictures and projects that pertain to my life. This is that blog!
A little about myself... I am a mom of two (ages 8 and 4 currently). My kids are special needs children and are a handful at times. Knitting gives me some relief as it takes some of my stress away.

I have found that I prefer to knit socks more than any other item. I think its the "instant gratification" that does it for me. I don't have the patience to knit a sweater and I have a thing about wearing bright colored, textured socks. I do not own a pair of soild white socks!

Thanks to Ravelry I've stockpiled more sock patterns than I know what to do with! And it's introduced me to the great wide world of independant yarn dyers!

I am involved with the 52 Pair Plunge II so most of the sock pics I post will be for that group. So far I'm up to #7 in finished pairs. This is a personal challenge and I'm mostly interested in how many I finish by June 1st, 2009.

Enough talk for now onto a pic!
